1. “拥抱北京,走向温哥华”奥运畅想全国英语演讲大赛在北外举行(The National English Speech Contest (Final) – Development Through Sports: Canada and China Held in Beijing Foreign Studies University)
2008年3月29日上午9时,“拥抱北京,走向温哥华”奥运畅想全国英语演讲大赛决赛在北京外国语大学东院日本学研究中心三层多功能厅举行。经过预赛选拔出的来自全国13所大学的选手进行了激烈的角逐,最终,来自四川外国语学院的魏国同学凭借优异的表现拔得头筹,获得了由加拿大旅游局资助的免费访问温哥华一周的机会。 第29届奥运会将于2008年在中国北京举行,而2010年加拿大温哥华也将举办第21届冬奥会。两个有着友好往来历史的国家因奥运而更加紧密。为了进一步加深两国人 民之间的相互了解,通过奥运这一纽带寻求共同发展,加拿大驻华使馆、加拿大旅游局全力资助,联手中国加拿大研究会共同发起了这次比赛。通过层层选拔,来自北京大学、北京外国语大学、大连外语学院、辽宁师范大学、内蒙古大学、山东大学、南京师范大学、上海交通大学、兰州大学、四川外语学院、西南科技大学、海南大学、广东外语外贸大学等大学的13位在校本科和硕士研究生晋级了决赛。 决赛由北京外国语大学英语学院加拿大研究中心 Grant Prize Winnier Wei Guo, A Student from SISU.....主办。教育部体育卫生与艺术教育司司长杨贵仁、国家体育总局对外联络司司长宋鲁增、中国前.驻加拿大大使梅平等应邀作为嘉宾出席了决赛。中国加拿大研究会秘书长李巍教授、北京外国语大学英语学院院长孙有中教授以及各相关单位的加拿大研究中心代表出席了本次比赛。 比赛当天,会场座无虚席,有许多观众站在门口和走道观看比赛。本次大赛主办单位北京外国语大学党委书记杨学义教授和加拿大驻华使馆二等秘书兼副领事Alan Hamson先生分别致词后,决赛正式开始。决赛由命题演讲、即兴演讲、奥运知识问答三部分组成。命题演讲的题目为Development Through Sports: Canada and China;即兴演讲环节中,选手当场抽取与奥运精神、环境保护、文化交流等相关题目做即兴演讲;奥运知识竞答环节中,每位选手各选择两道题回答,题目涉及奥运会历史、北京2008奥运会和2010年温哥华冬奥会的相关常识。 经过激烈的角逐,四川外国语学院的魏国同学表现出色,获得了本次决赛的特等奖,他将于2008年由加拿大旅游局资助赴温哥华进行为期一周的访问。来自北京外国语大学的康姝、上海交通大学的杨子曼获得一等奖,其他选手分获二、三等奖和优胜奖。 颁奖仪式前,中国加拿大研究会秘书长李巍教授作了总结发言。北京外国语大学加拿大研究中心为本次决赛做了周到认真的准备。中央台9频道的“文化速递”栏目当晚对大赛进行了报道,其他主流媒体如新华社国际部当天也发稿报道并被其他6家媒体转引、中国教育电视台、中国国际广播电台“国际在线”、中国教育报、人民日报体育版、中国教师报、21世纪教育周刊等也在现场进行了采访并随后进行了报道。
The National English Speech Contest (Final) – Development Through Sports: Canada and China was successfully held on March 29, 2008 in Beijing Foreign Studies University. Set to raise the public’s awareness of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, this event was sponsored by the Embassy of Canada in Beijing and Canadian Tourism Commission, coordinated by ACSC, and the final contest was organized by Canadian Studies Centre of Beijing Foreign Studies University. Participating CSCs include: Beijing University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shandong University, Dalian Foreign Studies University, Lanzhou University, Liaoning Normal University, Hainan University, Nanjing Normal University, Inner Mongolian University, Guangdong Foreign Studies University, Sichuan International Studies University, Southwest University of Science and Technology. As winners of the preliminary contests held in respective CSCs, 13 contestants gathered in Beijing Foreign Studies University to compete for the final. The final Some of the Prize Winners on the Stageconsists of three parts: a prepared 4-minute speech on the topic of “Development Through Sports: Canada and China”; a 2-minute impromptu speech on a chosen topic and Q & As on both 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. The final grand prize went to Mr. Wei Guo from Sichuan International Studies University. He will be sponsored by Canadian Tourism Commission to pay a one-week visit to Vancouver. First prizes went to Ms Kang Shu from Beijing Foreign Studies University and Ms Yang Ziman from Shanghai Jiaotong University. The other contestants won second prizes, third prizes and prizes for excellent performance respectively. The Canadian Studies Centre of Beijing Foreign Studies University made thorough and meticulous preparation for the final contest. Guests of honor presented at the final include: Prof. Yang Xueyi, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Mr. Alan Hamson, Second Secretary (Political) and Vice-Consul, Embassy of Canada in Beijing, Mr. Yang Guiren, Director General, Sports, Health and Arts Education Department, Ministry of Education, Mr. Song Luzeng, .......Prof. Li Wei Summarizing the Contest Director General, External Affairs Department, General Administration of Sport of China, Mr. Mei Ping, Former Chinese Ambassador to Canada, Chairman of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CNCPEC), Prof. Sun Youzhong, Dean of the School of English and International Studies, BFSU and Prof. Li Wei, Shandong University, Secretary General of ACSC. Prof. Yang Xueyi, Mr. Alan Hamson and Prof. Li Wei delivered short speeches at the final. The final contest drew a large audience from BFSU as well as from other universities in Beijing. 8 major media agencies covered the event: CCTV Channel 9 “Cultural Express”, Xinhua News Agency (Internationa) (and the news has been reprinted and quoted by 6 other news agencies), China Radio International (CRI), People’s Daily (Sports Section), China Education TV, 21st Century Education Weekly, Chinese Education Daily and China Teacher Weekly. With the extensive and in-depth media coverage and the joint efforts of ACSC and 13 CSCs across China, this national event has successfully raised the public awareness of Canadian culture, particularly the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, promoted Canadian Studies in Chinese universities and enhanced mutual understanding and friendly relationship between Canadian and Chinese people. 原由云南民族大学加拿大研究中心计划在2008年5月申办召开的“全国中加民族文化比较国际学术研讨会”事宜,因时逢第十六届世界人类学民族学大会7月中旬在昆明举行,8月又逢北京奥运盛事。为确保研讨会的质量,决定将此次研讨会推延到2008年12月中旬在春城昆明举行。敬请原谅。 特此通告。 云南民族大学加拿大研究中心 2008-4-22
