上海交大中心召开加拿大研究会议
6月7日下午,加拿大驻沪领事馆的Mark Neighbor先生来到上海交通大学加拿大研究中心,召开了关于加拿大研究的教师座谈会。座谈会由上海交大加拿大研究中心主任俞理明教授主持,来自外国语学院、安泰经济与管理学院、人文学院和国际教育学院的师生参与了此次座谈会。Neighbor先生为大家介绍了目前加拿大研究方面比较热门的研究领域和话题,并介绍了加拿大政府和中国加拿大研究中心在加拿大研究方面的学术交流项目和资助项目。最后,Neighbor先生回答了来自各个学院的师生所提出的加拿大研究信息搜索、中加学校项目交流、加拿大研究方向等方面的问题,大家反映热烈。同日傍晚,Neighbor先生在图书馆演讲厅为交大的同学们带来了一场主题为 “Special Olympics,Today & Yesterday”的专题讲座。在讲座中,Neighbor先生为同学们讲述了特殊奥林匹克运动会的历史、发展与现在,并介绍了作为第一届特奥会的举办地的加拿大为残障人士提供的各种便利措施以及加拿大对于这一特殊群体的重视程度,同时对最新一届特奥会的承办地上海做出很大期许。在讲座后半阶段,交大的同学们纷纷就特奥会志愿者活动、上海与加拿大的残障设施比较等等向Neighbor先生提问,同学们在他风趣地回答中得以了解到了更多自己所关注的问 ,整个讲座也在一片热烈的讨论声中走入尾声。 最后,Neighbor先生与上海交大加拿大研究中心主任俞理明教授举行了赠书仪式。为鼓励上海交大加拿大研究中心在加拿大研究方面所作的杰出工作,加拿大领馆这次向中心赠送了总额约300美元的30本加拿大原版图书,主要包括加拿大文化、历史和加拿大著名作家Nino Ricci、Margaret Laurence等人的佳作,赠书受到加拿大研究中心和外国语学院师生的欢迎。照片见附件。(上海交通大学加拿大研究中心供稿) On the afternoon of 6 July Mr. Mark Neighbor from Canadian Consulate in Shanghai came to Shanghai Jiao Tong University to join an informal discussion on Canadian Studies. Prof. Yu Liming, Director of Canadian Studies Centre, Shanghai Jiao Tong University presided the discussion which was attended by teachers and students from Foreign Languages School, Antai Economy and Management School, Humanities School and International Education School. Mr. Neighbor introduced to participants the comparatively hot fields and topics on Canadian Studies as well as academic exchange and financial support programmes sponsored by Canadian government for Canadian studies centers in China. At the end of the meeting Mr. Neighbor answered many questions about information collecting for Canadian studies, exchange programmes between Canadian and Chinese universities and the important subjects to be researched on Canadian studies. In the evening Mr. Neighbor gave a special lectures entitled Special Olympics,Today & Yesterday in the lecture hall of main library. He talked about the history, development and present situation of Special Olympic Games, introduced various advantageous facilities provided by Canada as host for the First Special Olympic Games, and attention paid by Canada to this special group in society. Mr. Neighbor expressed his high expectation for Shanghai which will hold the forthcoming Special Olympic Games. In latter part of the lecture, students raised a lot questions to Mr. Neighbor about volunteers’ activities for Special Olympic Games and comparison of facilities for handicapped between Canada and Shanghai etc. His witty response not only let students acquire more relevant knowledge but also deepen their understanding of Canada. At the end of the lecture a ceremony was held for Mr. Neighbor to denote 30 books to Canadian Studies Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. On behalf of the Centre Prof. Yu Liming accepted the books. Being worth $300 the books include Canadian culture, history and works written by famous Canadian writhers such as Nino Ricci and Margaret Laurence, which are appreciated highly by teachers and students in the Centre and Foreign Languages School. Canadian Consulate in Shanghai hopes that the donation will encourage the Centre to contribute more to Canadian studies in China
