2007年4月3日，“加拿大在亚太”博士生学术研讨会在香港利景酒店隆重举行。本人有幸受中国加研会委派赴港参加，收获良多，感触颇深。
一、加拿大研究内容广泛，意义深远。随着世界经济一体化的发展，一个国家的触觉已经伸入到另一国家的日常生活之中去。经济、科技、文化的高度融合，使得对一个国家的研究内容变得日益广泛。除了个别研究项目外，我们不必远距离地通过文献资料来研究加拿大，事实上，加拿大的发展与变化在我们身边就有鲜活的案例；本次研讨会的主题就是“加拿大在亚太”，本身就说明了这个事实。同时，加拿大研究的持续与深入，会增进了解、扩大交流、促进合作、共同提高。在“地球村”时代，这样的研究无论对加拿大还是东道国都显得意义重大。
二、学术交流与学术团队是科学研究的重要支柱。科技领域的不断细化及学科的相互渗透，使得研究课题很难由一个人独立完成，而是需要一个团队，通过分工与协作，共同完成。这点已经在自然科学领域已是共识，对于人文学科来讲，同样需要这样的团队，通过交流与思想碰撞，产生思想与理论的火花。
三、中国的经济崛起使得加中经贸研究日趋紧迫。我个人做的加中贸易研究报告引起较大的关注与讨论，一方面中国的经济发展引起世界各国的重视，另一方面则表明作为加拿大经贸研究的重要部分，对两国间的经贸战略与策略研究应成为重点。
四、郭会长高德厚爱。往返香港，我都与中国加研会会长郭教授同行，郭教授的学术造诣、长者风范令我深深折服，会议期间郭教授对我们来自大陆的学生给予了无私的帮助与关怀，更是让我们感动不已。
五、国际化。在经济一体化的时代，个人既是国际化的受益者，又是国际化的参与者。对于从事学术研究的人员来说，国际化更显重要，通过国际性的学术交流与学习，对于我们更好地把握学术前沿、拓宽学术视野大有裨益。

Some Thoughts about Hong Kong Postgraduate Research Seminar

“Postgraduate Research on Canada in the Asia-Pacific” seminar was held in Hong Kong Charterhouse Hotel on April 3rd, 2007. I was lucky to be selected by Association for Canadian Studies in China to participate it. From this academic trip I not only learned a lot but also got some feelings, which I state below.
Firstly, the domain of research on Canada is very comprehensive and the research is very meaningful. With the development of the world’s integrated economy, countries influence each other in all fields. Therefore conducting Canadian studies does not rely only on literature; in fact the vivid cases of Canadian science, technology, culture, business, economy, etc. are all around us. “Canada in the Asia Pacific”--the theme of this seminar also illustrates this situation. At the same time, continued and profound Canadian studies will optimize bilateral relations, better mutual understanding, expand exchanges, accelerate cooperation and improve together. Not only Canada but also the host country can benefit from this research.
Secondly, academic exchanges and teamwork are very important for Canadian studies. Faced with so many subjects in interdisciplinary studies, one cannot accomplish a research task alone; he/she needs collaboration with a research team to fulfill it. It is common in natural science studies. So is social science research. New ideas and theories will spring from the communication and cooperation.
Thirdly, research on Canadian-Sino trade has become an urgent topic along with China growing stronger in economy. I presented a paper on Canadian-Sino trade and investment at the seminar, which caused much attention and debate. The one reason for this is that economic development in China has received recognition from the whole world, and another one is that bilateral trade has become one of main research areas.
Fourthly, President Guo’s kindness and beneficence left a deep impression on me. I took this trip to Hong Kong together with Professor Guo Jide, President of ACSC. His rich knowledge and kindness won my respect for him. During our stay in Hong Kong, Professor Guo gave much help to the student who came from the mainland China and we were deeply moved. I take this occasion to express my gratitude to him.
Fifthly, internationalization is dominating. In the era of integrated economy everyone benefits from internationalization and at the same time is the participant of internationalization, too. Internationalization is more important for people who engage in research work. Through international communication and study, we can recognize and understand the urgent academic topics and broaden our research perspectives.
