Dear Chinese Canadianists:
First of all, I would like to extend my best wishes to all of you, wishing you a healthy and successful year of 2007!
As the Counsellor for Public Affairs at the Canadian Embassy, I am pleased to take this opportunity to recognize your continued interest and efforts to promote Canadian Studies in China. I have personally met with some of you over the past months. For those whom I have not yet had an occasion to meet, I am delighted to use the electronic newsletter of ACSC to strengthen our ties to the Canadian academic community in China by providing you with some information.
The purpose of this message is to strongly encourage you to participate in Canadian Studies Development Program (CSDP). This annual grant program supports Canadian Studies Centres and Canadianists to organize conferences/workshops on Canada, conduct research and activities, and to publish books related to Canadian studies. We believe that high-quality academic projects w ill greatly help to promote our bilateral academic relations and increase the visibility of Canada. To this end, I would like to invite you to enter the nation-wide competition for this program and to use this tool to further strengthen the collaborative partnerships between key Canadian and Chinese institutions. With your strong involvement in this program, I know that we can count on your academic excellence and scholarly interest to reflect the comprehensive nature of the Canada China Strategic Partnership.
Regarding the 2007-08 Canadian Studies Development Program, the deadline for submitting your application is April 30, 2007. (Application Form is attached). After you complete the Application Form, please send your proposal by email to Ms. Wang Li.
The Canadian Embassy and our Consulates General will continue to strongly support you to promote activities and developments in Canadian Studies. If you have any questions or need any assistance from the Embassy, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Wang Li, Academic Relations Officer at 6532-3536 ext. 3272.
Yours sincerely,
Rachael Bedlington
