加拿大英语词典出版
广东外语外贸大学的徐海教授和加拿大女王大学的Janice McAlpine女士编著的《加拿大英语词典（英汉双解）》已由商务印书馆2010年6月出版。该词典为国内第一部加拿大英语词典，是从事中加文化交流以及在加生活、工作、学习等的必备工具书。该词典的特色包括：专收加拿大英语特有的词汇与用法，真实反映加拿大语言文化状况；英英、英汉双解，便于读者准确把握词义；例证典型、丰富，均选自加拿大英语语料库；发音独特或不易拼读的词标注国际音标；语义相关条目之间相互参见；词源追溯加拿大英语词汇演变历史；附录实用性强,设有加拿大各省区概况、地图、节假日、军衔、大学等。该词典的出版得到加拿大政府学术项目的资助。
The Dictionary of Canadian English (English-English, English-Chinese), edited by Professor XU Hai from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Ms. Janice McAlpine from Queen’s University, was published by the Commercial Press in Beijing in June, 2010. This dictionary is the first dictionary of Canadian English made in China. It is an indispensible reference tool for Chinese-Canadian intercultural exchanges and for Chinese living, working and studying in Canada. The distinctive features of the dictionary include the following: (a) vocabulary and usage exclusive to Canadian English, reflecting the language and culture of Canada; (b) English-English, English-Chinese bilingualized definitions offer the Chinese user a confident grasp of precise meanings; (c) numerous and typical sentence examples selected from Canadian English corpora; (d) distinctively Canadian and difficult pronunciations indicated in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA); (e) semantic cross-referencing of some entries; (f) etymologies for some entries, reflecting the history of Canadian English vocabulary; (g) practical appendices, containing information on Canadian provinces and regions, map, holidays, military ranks, universities, etc. The publication of the dictionary is funded by Government of Canada through academic grant program.
