WINNER OF THE GOVERNOR GENERAL’S INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR CANADIAN STUDIES
The International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS) is pleased to announce that the Governor general’s International Award for Canadian Studies has been awarded to Mr. Brian Young, Professor emeritus in History and holder of the James McGill Chair in Canadian History at McGill University, Associate Member of the Centre d’études nord-américaines at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and co-director of the Montreal History Group. This is the most prestigious award in Canadian Studies granted each year in recognition of a university scholar’s contribution to Canadian Studies. WINNER OF THE AWARD FOR BEST DOCTORAL THESIS IN CANADIAN STUDIES
The International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS) is pleased to announce that the Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in Canadian Studies has been awarded to Doctor Janis Goldie for her thesis “Morals, Process and Political Scandals: The Discursive Role of the Royal Commission in the Somalia Affair in Canada”. PIERRE SAVARD AWARD
The International Council for Canadian Studies is proud to announce that the Pierre Savard Award granted each year to the author of a scholarly monograph, in French or in English, has been awarded ex-aequo to Dr. Rosemary Chapman for her book Between Languages and Cultures. Colonial and Postcolonial Readings of Gabrielle Roy and to Dr. Jean-François Mouhot for his book Les réfugiés acadiens en France (1758-1785) l’impossible réintégration? BOOK WINS DONNER PRIZE
On April 28th, 2010, the Donner Prize, the award for the best book on Canadian Public Policy, has been awarded for 2009/2010 to Brian Bow for his book The Politics of Linkage: Power, Interdependence and Ideas in Canada-U.S. Relations (UBC Press) and its analysis of the complex relationship between Canada and the United States. CUNDILL INTERNATIONAL PRIZE AND LECTURE IN HISTORY AT MCGILL UNIVERSITY – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The Cundill Foundation wishes to recognize and promote literary and academic achievement in history and has therefore established the Cundill International Prize and Lecture in History at McGill University. It is offered each year by McGill University to an individual, regardless of nationality or country of origin, who has published a book determined to have had (or likely to have) a profound literary, social and academic impact in the area of history. The book must be published in English or in French, between June 1st, 2009 and May 31st, 2010, and books translated in French or English are eligible. ENVIRONMENTS OF MOBILITY IN CANADIAN HISTORY – CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Cette exposition organisée par Bibliothèque et archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) se tiendra à Montréal, à la Grande Bibliothèque, Collection nationale, du 13 avril au 28 novembre 2010. Les historiens du livre font généralement coïncider les relations commerciales de la Librairie belge avec le Québec au cours de la seconde moitié du xixe siècle. L’originalité de cette exposition met en évidence la présence du livre belge au Bas-Canada dès le début du xixe siècle, notamment par le biais de l’industrie de la « réimpression » ou « contrefaçon belge ». L’exposition examine le rayonnement du livre français de facture belge et souligne l’importance des contrefaçons belges au sein même des collections de BAnQ.
