IDA is a GIS (“Groupement d’intérêt scientifique”) which brings together approximately 40 French institutes of higher education and research with the objective of coordinate studies in human and social sciences on North America and Latin America. AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN: CANADIAN, REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL DIMENSIONS - CALL FOR PAPERS
Canadian Foreign Policy journal, with support from The Norman Paterson School of International Affairs' Centre for Security and Defence Studies (CSDS) and the Canadian Centre of Intelligence and Security Studies (CCISS) is requesting paper submissions for a special issue to be published in Spring 2011 on the Canadian, regional, and international dimensions of the Afghanistan-Pakistan relationship, and the sources of conflict and stability in both countries. Papers from a range of perspectives and disciplines that address any critical dimension of the Afghanistan-Pakistan relationship historical, social, religious, military, legal, economic and political and that seek to identify sources and solutions to the conflict and instability in those countries and the region are welcome. NORTH AMERICAN RESEARCH LINKAGES PROGRAM – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
This program is designed to facilitate North American collaboration within the academic community. It aims to foster the development of permanent exchange networks by providing assistance to teams of researchers from Canada, the United States and Mexico in order to organize seminars, workshops, or other forms of research linkages. Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada will offer grants of up to $20,000 CDN to assist in the establishment or the development of North American research networks in support of projects that have policy relevance for the North American agenda. CANADIAN STUDIES – VISITING SCHOLARS PROGRAMME – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Applications are invited for the non-stipendary Visiting Scholars Programme in the Centre of Canadian Studies at the University of Edinburgh. The Centre is internationally recognised as the lead centre for Canadian Studies in the UK. It runs a graduate programme and two lively undergraduate courses in Canadian Studies. In addition, the Centre organizes interdisciplinary research seminars and hosts a range of public events. Visiting Scholar positions are available for periods between one month and 6 months. Office space, library and IT facilities will be provided. The Centre will also seek to assist visiting scholars with travel to Canadian Studies meetings in the UK. COLLOQUIUM SPECIAL ISSUE OF QUEBEC STUDIES – CALL FOR PAPERS
The Institute on Quebec Studies at SUNY Plattsburgh in partnership with the Quebec Studies Program at McGill University and the American Council for Québec Studies announce a new multifaceted initiative, designed for doctoral candidates and junior professors engaged in research on Quebec issues in the United States. This initiative features a call for papers, the convening of a colloquium and the publication of edited essays in a special issue of the journal Quebec Studies. Papers must be original and unpublished and can be from any academic discipline. Selected submissions will be included as part of ACQS (American Council for Quebec Studies) biennial colloquium in Burlington Vermont, from November 4th to 7th, 2010. Revised select contributions from the colloquium will be featured as a special issue of Quebec Studies. CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL – RESOURCE CENTRE
Le Conseil international du Canada (CIC) est un conseil de recherche national et non partisan voué au renforcement de la politique étrangère du Canada. Il vise à favoriser la recherche et le dialogue sur les affaires internationales par la voie d’un réseau qui traverse les disciplines, orientations politiques et secteurs économiques. Financé par des fonds privés, le programme de recherche du CIC fait appel à des groupes de travail spécialisés dont la composition repose sur une sélection concurrentielle d’associés de recherche issus d’universités et d’instituts de recherche de l’ensemble du pays, qui se consacrent tous aux enjeux majeurs de la politique étrangère canadienne. COLLOQUE INTERNATIONAL IMAGINAIRES DU PRÉSENT : PHOTOGRAPHIE, POLITIQUE ET POÉTIQUE DE L’ACTUALITÉ – APPEL DE COMMUNICATION
Ce colloque, organisé par l’Équipe de recherche sur l'imaginaire contemporain, la littérature, les images et les nouvelles textualités (ERIC LINT) et Figura, centre de recherche sur le texte et l’imaginaire, se tiendra les 22 et 23 octobre 2010, à l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Les propositions de communication en français ou en anglais peuvent provenir de domaines variés (études photographiques, histoire de l’art, études littéraires, esthétique, communications, études culturelles et visuelles, etc.) et porter sur des objets d’analyse historiques ou actuels de toute provenance géoculturelle. « CANADIAN PRINT CULTURE » – APPEL DE COMMUNICATION
Le Congrès 2010 de l’Association d’art des universités du Canada (AAUC) se tiendra à l’Université Guelph, à Guelph, Ontario, du 14 au 16 octobre 2010. L’événement a pour objectif d’examiner l’histoire de la culture de l’imprimé au Canada et de fournir une évaluation de l’état de la recherche à l’égard de la culture de l’imprimé au sein de l’histoire de l’art du Canada. Les propositions qui abordent un aspect quelconque du rôle joué par l’imprimé dans l’histoire des arts visuels au Canada sont les bienvenues.
