The Nominating Committee of the International Council for Canadian Studies invites applications for the position of President-elect of the ICCS. The position of President-elect will be filled in May 2010, once an election has been conducted at the General Annual Meeting in Ottawa in May 2010. The successful candidate will serve a term of office of one year as President-elect, two years as President, and a fourth year as Past-President. The President represents the International Council of Canadian Studies, oversees all of the activities of the Council, and chairs the Executive Committee of the ICCS as well as the annual meetings of the ICCS Board of Directors. MODIFICATIONS TO THE STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMS
Please note that the following changes have been made to some programs of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada (DFAIT):
¨  Due to the earthquake in Chile, competition deadlines for Chilean students under the Chile Leadership Scholarship Program is May 31st, 2010 and under the ELAP, applications from Chilean students only will be considered after the deadline.
¨  Under ELAP (graduate and undergraduate) and Canada-CARICOM Leadership Program for undergraduate notification of intent to request two semesters must be provided at the time of application. Remember that this is only for CARICOM college and undergraduate students who are eligible to study in Canada for two terms.
¨  For all the above mentioned programs, Canadian institutions must confirm by Monday, January 17th, 2011 that the scholarship recipient will be arriving in Canada BEFORE March 15th to start their study or research program. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the offer or Grant Agreement.
¨  For all the above mentioned programs, professors who submit applications should notify the International Liaison Officer (ILO) at their respective institution so there is a better communication and a streamlined process.

CONNECTING COMMUNITIES: CANADA, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND – CALL FOR PAPERS
The Association for Canadian Studies in Australia and New Zealand (ACSANZ) is holding its 15th Biennial Conference at the University of New England from July 4th to 7th, 2010. The Conference will be held in conjunction with the Federation Dialogue, a major event for Australia and Canada. The conference organizers welcome proposals for individual papers or panels relating to the conference theme from any discipline. ACSUS-ENDERS GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP IN CANADA-US RELATIONS – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The 2010 Competition for the ACSUS-ENDERS Graduate Fellowship is now open. This award is designed to encourage in depth inclusion of Canadian content in comparative research/projects that have policy relevance for Canada-U.S. relations as well as Canadian social, economic, political, security, and quality of life issues. QUEBEC EXCELLENCE AWARD 2010
The Ministère des Relations internationales created the Quebec Excellence Award to recognize research work or a thesis on Quebec by a German student. It is offered through the Munich office and is granted jointly by the Association for Canadian Studies in German-Speaking Countries (Gesellschaft für Kanada-Studien - GKS) and the Association internationale des études québécoises (AIEQ). This year, the panel of experts selected Ms Sarah Hürter for her research titled Les accommodements raisonnables in Quebec - a journalistic quantitative and qualitative analysis on the problematics of integration of foreigners - and Ms. Luise Baumann for her memoir titled La situation d’intégration des étrangers dans les petites et moyennes enterprises au Québec en regard des modèles de diversité appliqués – a theoritical and empirical study. Veuillez prendre note que des changements ont été apportés à certains des programmes d’échange d’étudiants du ministère des Affaires étrangères et du Commerce international (MAECI) :
¨  À cause du tremblement de terre au Chili, pour les étudiants chiliens, la date limite du concours du Programme de bourses d’échange (leadership) Canada-Chili est reportée au 31 mai 2010, et, dans le cas du Programme des futurs leaders dans les Amériques (PFLA), les demandes des étudiants chiliens seulement seront prises en considération après la date limite.
¨  Dans le cas du PFLA (premier cycle et cycles supérieurs) et du Programme de bourses (leadership) Canada-CARICOM (premier cycle), un avis d'intention de demander deux semestres doit être fourni au moment du dépôt de la demande. Rappelez-vous que cela s'applique seulement aux étudiants des collèges et à ceux du baccalauréat qui sont admissibles à étudier au Canada pendant deux semestres.
¨  Pour tous les programmes susmentionnés, les établissements canadiens doivent confirmer d'ici le dimanche 17 janvier 2010 que le (la) récipiendaire de la bourse arrivera au Canada AVANT le 15 mars pour commencer son programme d'études ou de recherche. PROGRAMME DES FUTURS LEADERS DANS LES AMÉRIQUES – APPEL DE CANDIDATURE
Le Programme des futurs leaders dans les Amériques (PFLA) a pour objet de réaliser la stratégie pour les Amériques mise au point par le gouvernement pour favoriser le perfectionnement des ressources humaines et pour susciter une nouvelle génération de leaders dans les Amériques tout en renforçant les relations entre les établissements d’enseignement de cette région et ceux du Canada. Le programme octroiera jusqu’à 1 600 nouvelles bourses d’études ou de recherche dans le cadre d’échanges menés en collaboration entre les établissements postsecondaires canadiens et leurs homologues de la région.
