  =>1.  内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心圆满完成2009-2010年度“加拿大访问教授”项目(The Canadian Studies Center at Inner Mongolia University Completed Successfully the “Visiting Professor Program” for 2009-2010

 

由内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心主任魏莉副教授主持2009-2010年度加拿大访问教授项目圆满完成。该项目由加拿大外交与国际贸易部和加拿大驻华大使馆批准和资助(项目批号PRE-A7548)。受本项目的邀请,加拿大卡尔顿大学著名土著文学家Armand Garnet Ruffo教授和加拿大环球中国文化和中医学院院长﹑英属哥伦比亚大学华裔文学研究专家及兼职教授John Ming Chen博士对内蒙古大学、北京大学和首都师范大学等进行了学术访问和讲学。

 

    在访问内蒙古大学期间,两位教授参加了我校加拿大研究中心召开的“民族文化传承与可持续发展—暨内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心成立二十周年国

The Canadian Studies Center at Inner Mongolia University was approved for a grant (Grant Agreement # PRE-A7548) by Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, to imple-           Dr. John Ming Chen delivering a    

 keynote  speech at the Symposium     ment “Visiting Professor Program” during the effective date of August 3, 2009 to March 31, 2010. With the financial assistance of the Government of Canada, two Canadian professors were invited to pay their academic visits to Inner Mongolia University and other two Canadian Studies Centers in China as Visiting Professor. In view of the outstanding academic achievements and abilities to guide our Canadian Studies at Inner Mongolia  University, Prof. Armand Garnet Ruffo from Carleton University and Dr. John Ming Chen from College of Chinese Culture and Traditional

 Visiting  he Canadian Studies Center          Medicine/ UBC were invited to China and honored

at Peking University                                    with the title Visiting Professor under this Grant Agreement. This program was chaired by Director Prof. Wei Li.

     Prof. Ruffo and Dr. Chen, as keynote speakers, attended the Symposium on “National Culture: Preservation and Sustainable Development” and a Celebration for the 20th Anniversary of the IMU Canadian Stud ies Center, at Inner Mongolia University, Hohhot, China, September 24-26, 2009. They also delivered lectures to graduate students in English of the IMU Foreign Languages College during their visits in Hohhot.    Afterwards, led by Prof. Wei Li, the two professors visited and delivered lectures respectively at Peking University and Capital Normal University, and conducted

    Lecturing at Capital Normal University     warm and spirited discussions with scholars and students. Both scholars and students at the three universities were greatly inspired by their original viewpoints and far-reaching insights. Their visits and lectures have profoundly benefited our Canadian Studies, widened our vision of conducting Canadian Studies, and strengthened the mutual understanding and potential collaborations.                  

      Subsequently, the trio paid a visit and had a  pleasant  meeting with Counsellor Patrice Cousineau and Academic Relations Officer Ms.Wang Li at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.

 =>2. 国际人类学与民族学联合会第16届大会于2009727日至31日在我国云南省昆明市成功举办(The 16th Congress of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences Held 27-31,July 2009 in Kunming, China)

 

  国际人类学与民族学联合会第16届大会于2009727日至31日在我国云南省昆明市成功举办。南开大学加拿大研究中心的陈巴特尔博士主持专题原住民及少数民族教育与人类文化多样性。来自美国、德国、英国、加拿大、新西兰、菲律宾、尼泊尔、印度、斯里兰卡及国内的30余位中外学者和研究生参加了本专题会议。中外代表围绕着多元文化教育民族教育理论”“本土文化及其价值”“个案分析”“民族语言与文字”“各国实践及比较这样六个主题进行了广泛而深入的研讨。本专题是大会165场专题讨论中唯一一个专门探讨原住民、少数民族教育及人类文化多样性议题的专题会议. 本专题收到学术论文46篇,其中,加拿大研究论文4篇。共有25位学者在会上发言,有2位学者发言的主题涉及中加原住民及少数民族教育比较研究。中国加拿大研究会副会长王昺教授应邀担任主持人和评议人。

The 16th Congress of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences was held 27-31,July 2009 in Kunming, China. Dr Chen Bateer from the Canadian Studies Center of Nankai University chaired the Panel “Education of Indigenous People and Nationalities and Human Cultural Diversity” . There were more than 30 scholars and graduate students from America, Germany, England, Canada, New Zealand, Philippines, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and China attended the Panel. The panel was divided into 6 sessions as follows:

Section 1 Multicultural Education

Section 2 Theoretical Research

Section 3 Native Culture and its Value

Section 4 Case Studies

This panel was the only one among 165 panels to discuss the relationship between indigenous & minority education and human cultural diversity in the congress.

     There were 46 scholars to submit their full papers for the panel, 4 of them related to Canadian education studies. 25 scholars gave their presentations 29-31th, July in Yunnan university and 2 of them involved the subject of the comparative studies on the indigenous & minority education between China and Canada.

Vice chair of ACSC, Professor Wang Bing was invited to be the chair and discusant of certain session. Reported by Canadian Studies Centre, Nankai University
