2009年9月24-26日, 内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心在呼和浩特市内蒙古大学隆重召开“民族文化传承与可持续发展—暨内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心成立二十周年国际学术研讨会”。
内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心成立于1989年5月,是中国加拿大研究会理事会成员之一,是国内最早成立的加拿大研究中心之一,也是内蒙古自治区唯一的加拿大研究中心。在加拿大政府及加拿大驻华使馆的大力资助和扶持下、在内蒙古大学校领导和外国语学院的高度重视和扶持下、在加拿大学
Esteemed leaders attending the Symposium 者和国内加拿大研究同行的激励和帮助下,内蒙古大学加研中心在过去的二十年中取得了丰硕的成果。加研中心的学术前辈和新一代的加拿大研究学者为中心的发展付出了大量的心血和辛勤的努力。此次盛会展示了中心的发展历程和学术成果,加深了与加拿大学者和国内学者的学术联系,增进了交流与合作,汲取了建议与指导,拓展了中心的未来发展前景。
内蒙古自治区党委宣传部副部长张太平、内蒙古大学副校长杨劼教授分别致开幕辞。内大国际交流与合作处处长赵勇宣读了加拿大驻华使馆参赞Patrice Cousineau先生的贺辞。中国加拿大研究会会长冯建文教授、内蒙古大学外国语学院院长胡树教授致贺辞。外国语学院副院长贾浩泉主持开幕式。中国加拿大研究会常务理事、加拿大访问教授、国内和自治区内的学者和研究生共60余人参加了此次盛会。内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心主任魏莉副教授作了中心成立二十年学术总结报告。王克明教授主持了来自加拿大卡尔顿大学的Armand Garnet Ruffo教授、不列颠哥伦亚 。。。Prof. Yang Jie, Vice President of IMU delivering 大学的John Ming Chen博士、西安
a congratulation speech 大略大学吴华教授,以及天津师范大学的客座教授陈澜燕等专家的大会主题发言。中国加拿大研究会首任会长蓝仁哲教授为大会主题发言做了精彩的学术评述。王昺教授主持提交论文的学者进行了热烈的学术讨论,徐炳勋教授做了学术评论。会议于25日晚在新城宾馆民族厅举行的盛大民族风情晚宴中闭幕。
此次会议得到了内蒙古大学校方的大力资助,由外国语学院主办、加拿大研究中心承办,并得到了中国加拿大研究会、加拿大驻华大使馆、《内蒙古大学学报》、人事处、社科处等相关部门的支持,以及自治区内各高校的积极参与。

Canadian Studies Center and supported fully by the university leadership and the Foreign Languages College, funded and supported vigorously by the Canadian government and the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, encouraged and assisted by Canadian scholars and Chinese Canadianists, both earlier and younger generations of scholars and researchers at the cente r have, in the past twenty years, devoted a great deal of time and energy and reaped an appreciable number of research results.
Mr. Zhang Taiping, Vice Minister of the Publicity Office of the Party Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Professor Yang Jie, Vice President of IMU, respectively delivered the congratulation speeches to the opening ceremony. Mr. Zhao Yong, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of IMU read the congratulation letter from Mr. 
Venue Patrice Cousineau, counsellor of the Canadian Embassy in Beijing. Prof. Feng Jianwen, President of the ACSC, and Prof. Hu Shu, Dean of Foreign Languages College of IMU, delivered speeches respectively. Prof. Jia Haoquan, Deputy Dean of Foreign Languages College of IMU chaired the opening ceremony. On this grand occasion and on behalf of the Canadian Studies Center at IMU, Director Prof. Wei Li showcased in PPT form the developmental stages and academic achievements of the center.
Over sixty professors, experts, scholars, and graduate students from the Board of the Directors of the ACSC, domestic colleges and universities, University of British Columbia in Canada, Carleton University, University of Western Ontario, etc. attended the symposium. Professor Wang Keming chaired the morning keynote speech session featuring Professor Armand Garnet Ruffo, Dr. John Ming Chen, Prof. Wu Hua, Professor Lanyan Chen, and others. Senior Professor Lan Renzhe made a commentary speech on the
Academic Round-table discussions keynote speeches in the morning session. Prof. Wang Bing chaired the academic round-table discussions in the afternoon session, and Prof. Xu Bingxun made a summary speech on the keynote speeches in the afternoon session. Over a spectacular banquet in the evening, amid the glamorous Mongolia dances and songs, the closing ceremony was held at the National Hall of Xincheng Hotel.
Thanks to the financial support fro m Inner Mongolia University, to the strong support from the ACSC and the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, to the support from the Foreign Languages College and the relevant administrative divisions of IMU, and to the Journal of Inner Mongolia University, along with the tremendous endeavors made by the organizational committee, the Symposium achieved a great success. It has deepened the mutual understanding and friendship, strengthened the academic ties, and enhanced exchanges and co-operations between the Chinese and Canadian academics.
