=>1. 加拿大驻华使领馆多位官员访问福建师大加研中心（Officials of the Canadian Beijing Embassy and Guangzhou Consulates Visited the Centre for Canadian Studies of Fujian Normal University）

 

福建师大加拿大研究中心自成立以来，一直得到加拿大驻华使领馆的大力支持和关心。近半年来，加拿大驻京使馆及驻穗领馆多位官员相继访问本中心。

2008年10月23日，加拿大驻广州总领事Francois Rivest先生访问福建师大加拿大研究中心。访问的当天，福建师大副校长李敏教授于加拿大研究中心会议室亲切会见了Francois Rivest先生一行。李副校长首先代表黄汉升校长对客人的到访表示热烈的欢迎并简要地介绍了我校的历史和现状，特别提到了加拿大研究中心的工作。中心主任王晓德教授向客人介绍了中心的工作情况，包括历史、办公条件、研究领域、课程设置、主要成就、学术交流情况以及发展前景。Francois Rivest先生对福建师大的热情接待表示感谢，对中心的的蓬勃发展表示欣赏和祝贺，鼓励中心师生为加拿大研究做出更大贡献。最后，Francois Rivest先生回答了在场学生所提出的关于当前金融危机、加拿大国内经济状况、加拿大对外发展援助、美加关系等问题。李敏副校长对总领事先生有关中心工作的建议并希望中心今后能与加拿大驻广州总领事馆建立更加密切的联系，使中心的各项工作在加方的支持下越做越好。会见后双方互赠礼品并合影留念。

2009年2月17日，加拿大驻华大使馆公共事务处参赞高柏灵先生（Mr. Patrice Cousineau）和使馆学术官员王荔女士访问我校加拿大研究中心。副校长许明教授亲切接见了高柏灵先生一行， 介绍了我校的发展历史和加拿大学术界的交流概况。校加拿大研究中心主任兼社会历史学院院长王晓德教授就福建师大加拿大研究中心的情况了作了介绍。高柏灵先生对我校加拿大研究中心表示赞誉，并表示会对我校的加拿大研究提供进一步的支持。会见结束后，应加拿大研究中心的邀请，高柏灵先生于仓山校区图书馆报告厅为200余位师生发表了主题为“鸟瞰加拿大”的精彩演讲。演讲中，高柏灵先生首先放映了2010年温哥华冬奥会的短片，展现了加拿大冬奥会的魅力。接着，高柏灵先生分别从地理、社会制度、经济、科技、外交和文化等多角度展示了加拿大的国情。高先生演讲内容丰富、诙谐幽默，给听众留下了深刻印象。演讲完毕，同学们就美加早期关系、加拿大参议院改革、加拿大冬奥会、在加中国嫌疑犯遣返、加拿大高等教育、留学政策等问题与进行了探讨。王晓德教授主持了演讲，并发表了热情洋溢的欢迎词和精彩点评。

2009年4月28日，加拿大驻华大使馆公使衔参赞柯马克先生访问福建师大加拿大研究中心，并和中心师生代表亲切座谈。马克先生首先简要介绍加拿大的国情以及加拿大驻华大使馆的工作职责。随后，与会同学围绕着猪流感疫情、如何看待美国、多元文化对吸引移民的作用、加拿大对福建留学生的态度、加拿大华人职业结构、中加政治关系、各省区及党派对议会改革的态度、加拿大对儒家文化的态度等问题和马克先生进行了交流。马克先生认真地聆听和回答了大家的问题，其中在谈到对中加关系的看法时，他说，中国和加拿大有着深厚的友谊及密切的合作关系，大使馆愿与加拿大政府和人民一道，继续努力，推动中加关系继续向前发展。最后，马克先生以自身经历为例对中国学生的就业提出若干建议，鼓励青年人勇于开拓进取。座谈会气氛热烈而友好，师生们不时对马克报以热情的掌声。该座谈由王晓德教授主持。

非常感谢加拿大使领馆对福建师大加拿大研究中心的关心和支持，本中心将和各兄弟中心一起，继续努力奋斗，争取为我国的加拿大研究事业做出更大贡献。

Since the foundation of the Centre for Canaidan Studies of Fujian Normal University(CCSFNU), it has been being given a great support and concern by the Embassy and Consulates. In the recent half year, several officials of the Canadian Embassy in Beijing and consulate in Guanzhou came to visit the CCSFJNU.

On the Oct. 23，2008, Mr. Francois Rivest, who is the consul general of Guanzhou consulate of Canada, paid a visit to the CCSFNU. Prof. Limin, Vice-President of Fujian Normal University met with Mr. Francois Rivest in the meeting room of the CCSFNU. First, Prof. Li welcomed Mr. Francois Rivest on behalf of Prof. Huang Hansheng who is President of Fujian Normal University, and made a brief introduction to the FJNU including the CCSFNU to the guest. Prof. Wang Xiaode, Director of the CCSFJNU introduced the work circumstances of centre to Mr. Francois Rivest such as its history, office condition, research fields, main courses, achievements, foreign academic exchanges and development prospects. Mr. Francois Rivest thanked FJNU for warm reception he received, appreciated the centre’s steady development, and encouraged teachers and students of the centre to make more contribution to the Canadian Studies. Finally, he answered the questions about the present economy crisis, the Canadian economy, the Canadian Official Development Assistance, US-Canada relations. Prof. Limin thanked Mr. Francois Rivest for his advices and encouragements, and hoped the centre to keep closer contact with the Guanzhou consulate, so that the centre’s work become more and more flourishing with the help from Canada. The guest and host exchanged perents and hada group photo taken to mark the occasion.

On the Feb.17 of 2007, Mr. Patrice Cousineau, counselor of public affairs together with Ms. Wang Li, Academic Relations Officer visited the centre. Prof. Xuming, Vice-President of Fujian Normal University welcomed the guests, introduced FNU History and its academic exchanges with the Canadian Universities. Prof. Wang Xiaode, who is the Director of the centre and president of Sociology and History College of FNU, made a brief report about the centre. After that, at the invitation of the centre, Mr. Patrice Cousineau made a speech of general view of Canada, in which he first played a short video about Vancouver winter Olympics displaying its charm. Subsequently, he showed Canada’s country's basic conditions such as geography, society system, economy, technology, diplomacy and culture. Mr. Patrice Cousineau’s speech was so  rich in information, and so humorous that it left a deep impression on the audience. When his speech was over, the students discussed the early US-Canada relations, the Canadian Senate reform, the winter Olympics, the repatriation of China’s suspects in Canada, the Canadian higher education and international student policy with Mr. Patrice Cousineau. Prof. Wang Xiaode chaired the speech, and gave a passionate welcome speech and a wonderful comment.

Mr .Mark Kruger, the Minister-Counselor in China, visited the Centre for Canadian Studies of Fujian Normal University and had a wonderful informal discussion with the delegates on March 4，2009. At first, he introduced canadian basic condition and the duties of canadian embassadors in China in brief, then had a hot discussion with the students delegates on epidemic situation of swine flu, how to think about the influence of canadian multiculturalism on attracting immigrants, the canadian attitudes toward the students from Fujian Province, the professional structures of Chinese in canada, the Sino-Canadian political relations and so on. Mr Mark listened seriously and answered the questions carefully. When talking of Sino-canadian relations, he said that there is a great friendship and close cooperation between China and Canada, and Canadian Embasy would like to work with Canadian government and people to promote the continuous development of Sino-Canadian relations. At last, Mr. Mark took his experience for example to give some good advice on getting a job to students and encouraged young students to step forward bravely. The conversazione , presided over by Pro. Wang Xiao-de, was held successfully, and Mr. Mark’s speech was loudly applauded.

It is appreciated sincerely that the Canadian Embassy and Consulates has been giving the CCSFJNU so much support and concern . the Centre will go on making arduous efforts so as to make more contribution to the Canadian Studies in China together with brother centres.

　 =>2. 加拿大卡尔加里大学韦伯教授访问福建师大、漳州师院和湖南商学院(Prof. Webber of Calgary University Visited Fujian Normal University, Zhangzhou Normal University and Hu’nan Business College)

   

在加拿大驻华大使馆的大力支持下，应福建师范大学加拿大研究中心邀请和安排，2009年3月21至30日，加拿大著名教育学家、卡尔加里大学教授、博士生导师查尔斯·佛朗西斯·韦伯先生携其夫人玛格丽特·克瑞克·韦伯女士来华进行学术访问。在华期间，韦伯教授访问了对福建师范大学、漳州师范学院和湖南商学院，受到所到学校领导的高度重视和师生们的热烈欢迎，现将此次访问的具体情况汇报如下：

3月22日，韦伯教授访问福建师大加拿大研究中心，中心主任兼社会历史学院院长王晓德教授在中心会议室接见了韦伯一行，向客人简要介绍了一下中心的历史、主要研究领域和未来规划，韦伯教授向中心师生介绍了卡尔加里大学关于加拿大研究的主要情况。接见完毕，王晓德教授代表中心和韦伯教授就进一步加强合作进行了会谈并聘请韦伯为客座教授，韦伯愉快地接受了聘请，表示要为福建师大加拿大研究的发展贡献力量。

3月23日，韦伯教授在福建师大做了主题为“加拿大研究生教育”的演讲。韦伯教授先是介绍了加拿大的大学规模、学校资金来源、

   Prof. Wang Xiaode and Prof. Webber              研究生招生制度、研究生课程、学生评价、学位授予机制以及加拿大研究生教育面临的挑战，然后总结了加拿大研究生教育面临的良好机遇和美好前景。演讲完毕，韦伯教授与听众就加拿大研究生科研情况、博士生研究生考试制度、国际学生留学要求、加拿大精英教育和平民教育比较、美国与加拿大研究生教育的不同性等问题进行了热烈讨论。加拿大研究中心主任兼社会历史学院院长王晓德教授主持了演讲，并就演讲做了精彩点评。加拿大研究中心、社会历史学院等院系师生200多人聆听了演讲。

3月24日，副校长许明教授会见了韦伯夫妇，宾主就以后双边交流的规划进行了探讨, 双方表示将进一步积极支持福建师大的加拿大研究工作，采取更多措施促进双方的学术交流和合作。3月25日上午，在卡尔加里大学博士梁晓女士主持下，韦伯教授做了名为“加拿大高等教育文化”的讲座。讲座中，韦伯教授介绍了加拿大大学分类、高等教育目的、理念以及价值观，阐释了加拿大大学的管理方式、学生人口统计、学术自由、学术规范和教师评价制度。最后，韦伯对影响加拿大大学发展的因素以及加拿大高等教育的发展趋势做了分析。随后，同学们就加拿大研究生就业、英法双语教学、社区学院和大学的区别、加拿大大学数据资源的利用、加拿大教育对本国经济的贡献、加拿大教育理念、加拿大少数民族接受高等教育的平等权、“平静革命”中魁北克教育改革等问题和韦伯教授进行了探讨，韦伯教授认真回答了同学们的提问。

为进一步加强与福建师大加拿大研究中心的学术交流，韦伯教授在访问福建师大期间和中心及社会历史学院部分师生进行了4次学术座谈，主要探讨了加拿大教育制度、政治、历史、对外政策、社会保障政策等问题，取得良好效果。另应我校教育学院邀请，玛格丽特·韦伯女士还对福州中小学教育情况进行了考察，向福州中小学教育同行介绍了加拿大中小学教育情况。

3月26日－27日，韦伯教授与夫人访问了漳州师范学院，受到该校领导、师生的热烈欢迎。在漳州期间，韦伯做了“中国与加拿大教育之比较”为主题的学术讲演，近200人听取了讲座。韦伯教授从高等教育的类型与目的、学校管理和学生评价、学生的培养和大学的精神文化以及理念和实践等方面比较了中加教育的异同.在随后一个多小时的问答环节中，听众向韦伯教授提出了大学理念、高等教育评价、国际学术交流以及外语学习等多方面的问题，韦伯教授分别作出了解答。此外，韦伯教授还和漳州师院历史与社会学系师生举行了一场座谈，就加拿大的教育、社会文化、经济以及外交交换了彼此的看法。

漳州访问结束后，韦伯教授访问了湖南商学院。韦伯教授为该校师生做了主题为加拿大高等教育文化的演讲，近300人参加了讲座。在离开湖南前，韦伯教授及其夫人和外语系一些教师讨论了加拿大外语教学、多元文化、本科教育、学生考试制度以及教师科研成果发表等话题。

韦伯教授是加拿大知名教育学家，他学识渊博,学术成果丰富，他是近半年中继美洲协会副主席沃克女士之后，第二位访问福建师大加研中心的著名外国学者。他的访问加深了中国学术界对加拿大教育的了解，增进了双方的学术交流，对于推动福建师大等三校的加拿大研究具有积极意义。

本次访问资金主要来于加拿大驻华大使馆。在此，我们对使馆致以诚挚的谢意，感谢使馆对中心的关心和支持.

With the great support of the Canadian Embassy in China, the Centre for Canadian Studies（CCS）of Fujian Normal University successfully invited and arranged Prof. Charles Francis Webber, who is a famous educationist in Canada and supervisor of PhD students of Calgary University, and his wife, Mrs. Margaret Krikke Webber to visit China from Mar. 21,2009 to Mar. 30, 2009. During their stay in China, Prof. Webber visited Fujian Normal University, Zhangzhou Normal University and Hu’nan Business College, Prof. Webber's visit was highly considered by the leaders and warmly welcomed by the teachers and students of the three places. The report of this academic visit is as following.

On Mar.22, Prof. Webber visited the CCS. Prof. Wang Xiaode, the director of CCS and dean of Sociology and History College(SHC) met with Prof. Webber at the meeting room of CCS. Prof. Wang Xiaode made a brief introduction of the centre including its history, main studying fields and the future prospect to Prof. Webber, and Prof. Webber introduced the Canadian Studies of Calgary University in Canada. Finally, Prof. Wang Xiaode talked with Prof. Webber concerning the further cooperation between each other. Prof. Wang invited Prof. Webber to be a Guest Professor, Prof. Webber accepted the invitation certificate cheerily and expressed that he would do his great most to make contribution to the CCS development.

On Mar. 23, Prof. Webber gave a lecture on the topic of the postgraduate education in Canada at Fujian Normal University. First, Prof. Webber introduced the university sizes, university finance resources, postgraduate enrollment, postgraduate courses, student evaluation , academic degree system and the challenges for post-graduate education in Canada. Then, Prof. Webber concluded the opportunities and fine prospect in the Canadian post-graduate education. After his speech, Prof. Webber and the audience hotly discussed on the Canadian postgraduates' research situation, the entrance examination for PhD students, the requirements of international students, comparison between the elite and civilian education of Canada, the difference between the American and Canadian graduate education and so on. Prof. Wang Xiaode presided over the lecture and gave a wonderful comment on it. More than 200 people of CCS and SHC attended the lecture.

On Mar. 24, Prof. Xu Ming, the Vice President of Fujian Normal University met with Prof. Webber and his wife. The hosts and guests discussed the bilateral academic exchanges and cooperation in future, they both agreed to actively support the Canadian Studies of Fujian Normal University and adopt more measures to advance the academic exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

On Mar. 25, chaired by Ms. Liang Xiao, a PhD of University of Calgary, Prof. Webber had a lecture on the Culture of Higher Education in Canada at Fujian Normal University. At the first place, Mr. Webber introduced the classification of universities, the objectives, values and beliefs of universities in Canada, Then, Prof. Webber elaborated on the governance methods, the student demographics, the freedom and ethics of academic research and the evaluation system of teachers . At last, Prof.Webber talked about the factors influencing the development of Canadian universities, pointed out the development trend of Canadian higher education. After that, the students asked the questions about the employment condition of Canadian graduates, the bi-lingual teaching, the difference between community colleges and universities, the usage of data resources in Canadian university, the contribution of education to the economy of Canada, the ideas of education, the equal rights of minority groups to get higher education in Canada, the Quebec educational reform during the Quiet Revolution

            Prof. Webber is giving a lecture                                    and so on. All of the questions have been seriously answered by Prof. Webber.

In order to enforce the academic exchanges each other, Prof. Webber joined the four conversaziones with the participation of the teaching stuff and the students of the CCS and SHC on the relevant topics such as the education, politics, history, foreign policy social security system. Invited by Education College of Fujian Normal University, Mrs. Webber investigated the education situation of primary and middle school of Fuzhou  City and made a introduction of the  Canadian middle school education.

From Mar.26 to Mar.27, Prof. Webber together with his wife paid a visit to Zhangzhou Normal University, and met with a hearty welcome from leaders, teachers and students there. On the first day, Prof. Webber made a speech of “Comparison between the Canadian and Chinese Education”, and about 200 people attended his lecture. Prof. Webber compared the Canadian education with that of China from the perspectives of higher education classification and purposes, school management and student evaluation, student education and university culture, the ideas and practice of Education and so on. In the question-answer part after speech, the listeners asked Prof. Webber some questions about university ideas, higher education evaluation, international academic exchanges and foreign language learning, Prof. Webber answered respectively. On the second day, Prof. Webber swapped his views on the Canadian education, society, economy and diplomacy with the teachers and students of History and Sociology Department of Zhangzhou Normal University on a conversazione.

After Visiting Zhangzhou, Prof. Webber visited Hu’Nan Business College, where he gave a speech on the Higher Education Culture in Canada, almost 300 people listened to his lecture. Before his leaving Hu’Nan, Prof.Webber discussed with some teachers of Foreign Language Department about the foreign language teaching, multiculture, education of undergraduate, student examination system and teachers’ publication.

Prof. Webber is a top educationist in Canada, and he is a scholar of profound learning with excellent academic achievements, and is the second foreign famous scholar visiting the CCS in the recent half year since Ms. Walk, who is  the Vice-President of institute of Americas in America. It is frimly believed that Prof. Webber’s visiting strengthened China’s academic circles’ understanding about the Canadian education and culture, advanced Sino-Canada academic exchanges, and it is very helpful to the Canadian studies of Fujian Normal University and the other two universities.

The funds to support  Prof. Webber’s visit is mainly from the Canadian Embassy in China, and its kindness is appreciated sincerely. We thank the Embassy for its concerns and support.
