 2008年3月12－20日，加拿大魁北克大学蒙特利尔分校社会学系教授维克特·阿莫尼（Victor Armony）应南开大学周恩来政府管理学院的邀请访问了南开大学。维克特教授是研究魁北克问题、拉美和全球化方面的专家，他不仅是UQAM“全球化、公民权和民主”机构的主任，而且还是《加拿大拉美和加勒比研究》的编辑。在南开大学访问期间，维克特教授分别在南开大学社会学系、加拿大研究中心和拉美中心举行了三场精彩的学术报告。报告的题目分别是“公众对移民社会价值观的讨论”（"Public debates on values in immigrant societies"），“左派是新的中心吗？——拉美的政治与对话”（"Is the Left the New Center?: Politics and Discourse in Latin America"）,“魁北克的民族主义与加拿大多元文化主义是否矛盾？”（"Is Quebec's nationalism contradictory with Canada's multiculturalism?"）
维克特教授对加拿大研究中心的报告被安排在杨令侠教授的“加拿大史”课堂上举行，参加报告的除了选修“加拿大史”课程的学生和南开大学加拿大研究中心的全体成员外，部分研究生和博士生也聆听了维克特教授的讲座。维克特教授关于魁北克分裂主义与加拿大多元文化之间的互动关系的精彩报告为我们理解魁北克分裂主义与多元文化提供了一个新的视角，也赢得了南开师生的阵阵掌声。报告结束后，中国加拿大研究会前会长、南开大学加拿大研究中心主任韩经纶教授、ACSC副会长杨令侠教授和副秘书长付成双等与维克特教授及其兄长Ariel Armony教授（南开大学富布赖特学者）在专家楼进行了愉快的会谈，并设宴款待。

 Invited by Zhou Enlai School of Government, Nankai University, Prof. Victor Armony from Sociology Department, University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM) visited Nankai University from March 12 to 20, 2009. Being the director of Institute of Globalization, Human Rights and Democracy, UQAM and editor of Latin American and Caribbean Studies in Canada, Prof Victor Armony specializes in the issues of Quebec, Latin American and globalization. During his stay in Nankai University he visited Sociology Department, Canadian Studies Centre and Latin American Studies Centre, Nankai University and offered three guest lectures respectively in the fields of sociology, Latin American Studies and Canadian Studies: 1) "Public debates on values in immigrant societies", 2)"Is the Left the New Center?: Politics and Discourse in Latin America", and 3) "Is Quebec's nationalism contradictory with Canada's multiculturalism?"
Prof. Victor Armony’s lecture to Canadian Studies Centre was conducted in Prof. Yang Lingxia’s Canadian History class. The attendants included no only graduates, but also some graduate students and doctoral candidates as well as members of Canadian Studies Centre. Prof. Victor Armony dealt with the interaction between Quebec separatism and Canadian multiculturalism instructively which offered a new perspective on their relations and therefore won applauses from attendants. After the lecture, Prof. Han Jinglun, the former president of ASCS and Director of Canadian Studies Centre, Prof. Yang Lingxia, Vice President of ASCS and Prof. Fu Chengshuang, Vice Secretary-General of ASCS had a friendly talk with Prof. Victor Armony and enjoyed a dinner together at Experts Building. Prof. Ariel Armon who is Prof. Victor Armony’s elder brother and Fulbright scholar at Nankai University joined them.
