2008年11月27日，南京大学加拿大中心邀请加拿大艾尔伯塔大学英语系教授、作家Ted Bishop给本科生做了有关如何阅读文学作品的讲座。Bishop教授认为，文学作品的物质状态传达了重要的信息并在我们理解作品方面发挥了重要的作用。

On November 27, Professor Ted Bishop from the Department of English and Film Studies, University of Alberta, was invited to give the undergraduate students from the English Department, Nanjing University a lecture on how to read literary texts. According to Professor Bishop, the materiality of literary texts conveys important messages and plays an important role in our understanding of the texts.

On December 21 to 21, 2008 Ms. Yao Yuan at Canadian Studies Centre of Nanjing University participated the conference on English literature held by China Association for the Study of English Literature, and gave a presentation in a panel.
